Dr. N. Jeyaseelan is the Chief Executive Officer of “Virutcham Academy for Social Changemakers LLP and He has studied B.Sc (Agri), MBA, Master of Women’s Studies, Ph.D in Microfinance and Diploma in Training & Development.
He has served in Indian Bank for 22 years and in Hand in Hand India for eleven years. At Indian Bank, he had launched many initiatives like IBSUM (Indian Bank’s Special Unit for Microfinance) and innovative loan products to support poor Self Help Group women entrepreneurs. While he headed Hand in Hand India as its Group Chief Executive Officer, he introduced several innovations in microfinance and livelihoods projects benefiting rural women in 13 states and he also supported replication of Hand in Hand model of Job creation in Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, Myanmar and Cambodia. By focusing on the purpose of empowering women through entrepreneurship and microfinance, he has helped several thousand of SHG women entrepreneurs to launch & scale up their enterprises and lead a dignified life and made a difference in the lives of many poor women. He has received the United Nations Microfinance Knowledge Promoter award 2007 from the UN Solution Exchange (a joint initiative of all UN agencies in India) for his contributions to the microfinance community. He has attended advanced leadership course in Harvard Business School, USA and Social Entrepreneurship course in INSEAD Business school, Singapore.
He has published the book Micro Credit to Micro Enterprises—Opportunities and Challenges for Self-Help Groups in 2009 and Scaling up Microfinance: What next? -Top 10 Focus areas to achieve a Purpose Centred Growth – Book in 2019. He has trained NGOs, government officials, bankers, MFIs staff & Women entrepreneurs on microfinance and SHGs and developed several training manuals both in India and abroad. He has handled assignments for UNDP, UNOPS, IFAD, ADB, and GIZ. He is also the Co-founder of NGO “Purpose and Vision Centre -NGO”.
Now, he is on a mission to spread the “Purpose Centred Growth” approach among the people in various sectors across the globe to bring out a transformation in their life.
